How Do You Make Money In MLM And Who Gets Rip Off?

Secrets Of MLM Online Success - How Do You Make Money In MLM And Who Gets Ripped Off?By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jim_Keayes]Jim Keayes

Now there's a great question!
I know lots of people who like to take the victim role that are totally convinced that anyone making big bucks is ripping the little guy off.
So let's put that one to bed…in MLM the little guy is a volunteer!
It's not that anyone is getting ripped off. It's the simple fact that in all businesses a small handful of high achievers make significantly more income than the average.

MLM is not a job where you're on a fixed salary and have to beg for a raise, while the President is entrenched at the top making the big income. In MLM everyone is the President of their own business and they can write their own income check…if they want to work for it.
You start in MLM the same place everyone else started and from then on it's up to you. In the typical compensation plan you can make some money selling the product at retail. Often the retail price is quite prohibitive so you end up selling at wholesale-customers like to feel they're getting a deal--and you earn the distributors override on your product sales. That override varies, but in my MLM company, its 10% to 20% depending how my business is structured.

Many people like to start by setting up a network of preferred retail customers, often around the world, who can order and pay for their own products online. A series of emails keeps you in touch and many of these customers find customers of their own so they enroll as a distributor. And so your business grows and your income grows via your 10% to 20% override on sales.
It's a very efficient process, but by some this is considered the slow way to start. But on the plus side the income is typically all residual so it's a rock solid business.

Others, and possibly this is the majority, like to make the override on the bigger sale of the starter packages, so they begin with a program of recruitment and teach their new associates to do the same.
Getting customers is often an overlooked segment of MLM, where many associates focus on recruitment and personal consumption only.
In my opinion if you want a rock solid business then you want to do both; teach your team to make sure their monthly qualifying volume is more than covered by retail sales. That way they're always making some money and they don't fall away. Besides, getting customers is a lot easier than finding a willing candidate for sponsoring.

In a business built like this you truly can retire on your residual income!

3 Tips For Selecting The Right MLM The Right Way

Someone once said that “you can’t start out wrong and end up right”. It is very easy to select your network marketing or mlm business opportunity using the “emotional hype” provided by the mlm company instead of a logical method and end up “crashing and burning” and quitting that network opportunity. Not only has your pocket book took a substantial hit but your self esteem has also “tanked”.

Here are 3 tips you can use to select your mlm business the right way by looking at the mlm product demand, the mlm product profit margin and the mlm compensation plan.

MLM Product Demand:
A legitimate mlm opportunity has a product or service that it markets for revenue. When selecting your on line business opportunity, make sure there is a demand for the product of service that the company is offering. Has your market heard about the product? Does the product have some “name recognition”? If you have to introduce a product that no one has heard about, do you have the “advertising budget” to introduce the products. It is a good idea for your “deal”to have more than one product so it can be bundled with other products of the company. Ask yourself is there competitive products from other mlm companies? If the answer is yes, then that indicates that there is a demand for that service or product. Make sure to review the demand for the product.

MLM Product Profit Margin:
You are in the network marketing business to make a profit. You must go beyond the hype and look at what is your profit margin. This includes the cost of acquiring a customer. When you first start out with your list of “100 friends and family” that many mlm companies tell you to put together, how much time, effort and money will it cost. If the retail cost of the product is $50 and you make $5 on each sale but it costs you $10 to acquire the customer, you are starting out losing $5. The bottom line is that you join a network marketing business to make money. You should try and find a mlm company in which you can make 50% of the retail price as profit. This will keep you from losing money. The lowest percentage you can stand should be set at 25%. I have a friend who made $30,000 in a network marketing company but it also cost him $30,000 which means after 4 years of blood, sweat and tears, he broke even. Be sure to check out your product profit margin.

MLM Compensation Plan:
Most network marketing companies have compensation plans that are explained in great detail and from the “hype”, everyone has an equal opportunity to have some degree of success in their plan. Many plans are the “forced matrix” or binary which seem to be the most popular. What you want to know about the plan is whether it is a product driven or recruit driven plan. Does the mlm company’s compensation reward selling product more or recruiting more? Does their landing page push the product or the deal? By answering that question, you will be able know if you fit their deal. If their deal dosn't fit, move on.

How To Succeed In Network Marketing-The 4 Must Requirements

How to succeed in network marketing; is there really a standard answer to this question?
You'll get plenty of theories, mostly olde world MLM theories which are becoming more and more ineffective as we burrow further and further into the age of the internet. Maybe the question should be:
How To Succeed In Network Marketing In 2007?
So is there a difference between succeeding in MLM today than there was 10 or more years ago? Does the fact that the majority of people joining a network marketing business bail out in the first 90 days answer your question?
It's a new era; the world wide web has made the world a smaller place and yes, newer, better strategies are now available to MLM'ers. Here are the four base principles of how to succeed in network marketing:

1. Target marketing... what do I mean by this. Well, basically you need to attract prospects to your business who will hunt you down rather than dumping yourself on friends, relatives or any one else who is fair game.
Can this be possible? Sure. By working a system by using carefully crafted tools of attracting prospects on the front end, allowing you to then develop a relationship with those prospects over a period of time. The beauty of this is, you will be dealing with people who actually sought you out.

2. Ensuring a continual and consistent flow of prospects into your business funnel. Without prospects, you don't have an MLM business. This leads us to the next component of how to succeed in network marketing...

3. Action. Lack of action is one thing but lack of effective action will hurt your business like nothing else. It's one thing to look busy such as attending meetings, conference calls and reading up on as much material as you can but is this income producing action?
Effective action includes doing those things to create an awareness in people you have the solution they're looking for. Website maintenance, blog maintenance, article marketing; using effective tools to firstly attract people to you and then to develop the type of relationship with these people required to build the foundation which will sustain your MLM business over time.

4. Developing the proper skill set is so important today in network marketing. Without proper skills, you may as well kiss any chance of converting your prospects into business partners.
I'm not talking about using old and outdated methods but how to succeed in network marketing today really boils down to how effectively you can position yourself in the MLM business so targeted prospects will be attracted to you.
Breakthrough new ebook reveals why MLM prospecting and recruiting is actually destroying your business. Find out how you can get people to pay you to prospect them.

Survival In Network Marketing-What Is The Staying Power You Need?

You and countless others know the survival rate in network marketing is pretty dismal. Most people initially get excited about an opportunity, join, and then reality strikes! All of the hard work seems to go nowhere, everybody says no, family and friends are all convinced the business opportunity is a scam and pyramid scheme, etc. Is it any wonder that people quit? However, there is one simple thing that you can do to help yourself through those downtimes and prevent your from ending up in the ranks of the quitters. Let's discover what the one thing is. It's easy to do, but few people take the time to do it!
You must take some time and create a powerful “why”. This is the staying power that is the true secret to survival in network marketing. Most of us, including you, have problems and situations that need to be solved. If you truly want your life to be changed and problems solved for the good, you have to figure out why you want to be in network marketing. This “why” will sustain you through criticism, negativity, lack of support from others, being told “no”, etc. Before you even choose a network marketing business, opportunity, you really have to come up with a powerful “why” with staying power.
You might be thinking how to come up with a “why” that has this mystical staying power. Keep in mind that your why isn’t all about the money. It has to be much deeper than that. Usually, it is something you want or want to get away from. Here are some questions that can get those creative thinking juices flowing:
*What gets you really excited?
*How many hours a week do you want to work?
*What do you love and hate about your job?
*Other than money, what are you looking for?
*If you had the time to do anything you wanted, what would it be?
*What problem scares you to death that money can solve?
*What does your family mean to you?
*What do you want to accomplish in your lifetime?
*What would it mean to help others and change lives?
*What would you really like to give the people who love you the most?
*What do you want for your own personal growth?
Pretty thought provoking questions aren’t they? I encourage you to spend some quiet time creating your “why” that has great staying power. Then, write down the three biggest reasons you have to be successful. Keep doing this until you finally have an “a-ha” moment and realize this is “why” you choose to become involved in network marketing. This is the “why” you can survive in this business when other’s drop out like flies.
Network marketing can be challenging. Everyone has periods of discouragement and thoughts of quitting at times. However, if you take the time to create a powerful why that has “staying power”, you can survive in network marketing.

What Every Network Marketer Must Know About The Future of MLM

Think back to when you were a kid...

If you're like me, someone who grew up in the 70's and 80's, you remember a time when TVs only had about 3 channels. And, you had to get off the couch to change those channels. The TV show Star Trek was incredibly popular and every kid was fascinated with all the high-tech gadgets like Captain Kirk's hand-held "communicator". Very cool stuff indeed.
Now jump forward 30 years. Without question, times and technology have changed. Today's electronic devices have long surpassed even the most creative imaginations of Star Trek's brilliant writers. Yes it's true, and they will continue to do so at an exponential rate.
Today a "personal data assistant", like the Blackberry or iphone, is quickly rendering the once popular cell phone obsolete. One of these fancy gadgets can play video or audio files, snap photos, send and receive email, and even surf the web – all from the palm of your hand.
However, here's something you may not have realized:

Today's young people have advanced right alongside technology.
This is something I know all too well. I see it everyday firsthand in my 3 young daughters. Without effort they can find any information they want in a matter of seconds online. For them, music and videos by their favorite artists are always just a few clicks away. Simultaneously sending text message broadcasts to their friends is second nature. Even a vote for their American Idol favorite is right at their fingertips.
And here's the kicker. My oldest daughter is only 12 years old.
Young people today are smarter than ever. In fact, most of today's teenagers have never known a time without computers or the internet. For many of them, a computer is as commonplace as a TV or microwave. To not have one is strange.
So what does all of this high-tech talk have to do with MLM?
Well, here's an interesting fact for you. At my MLM company's last national convention, the top 2 income earners started in the 90's. BUT, the fastest movers which started much later (and will very soon be the new top income earners) are all doing business online. Think about that and let it soak in for a moment.

To help you understand how this happens, consider this. Network marketers who started during the 80's and 90's were taught to drive all over town to do 1, 2, or 3 live one-on-one presentations per day, call 50-100 leads per day to do 5-10 phone presentations and attend 1 or 2 hotel meetings per week.
On the contrary, experienced online Network Marketers have proprietary "marketing systems" in place to do 25-50 or more presentations per day, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – on autopilot. They have created a true home-based business model.
For them, gone are the days of wasting time, money, and energy (not to mention gas) chasing prospects and "overcoming objections". Because their systems do the work for them, they can truly experience time and money freedom that is so often promised in this industry yet seldom achieved. Makes a lot of sense doesn't it?

It appears the MLM industry is finally starting to embrace technology. Until now, company replicated websites and a few cheesy autoresponders were the extent of it. However, as more and more computer- literate distributors join the ranks, organizations will continue to grow faster and faster.
Perhaps you haven't realized it yet, but today's brilliant young people are the future of MLM and the home-based business industry. What's more, these sharp minds are either going to be fellow team members or the competition.
You will either have the pleasure of leading them or the agony of competing against them.
Now imagine for a moment it's 3-5 years in the future. You haven't done your homework and you're trying to tell an internet savvy prospect the way to build a business is by using the 3 Foot Rule, posting flyers on grocery store bulletin boards, running ads in the "Thrifty Nickel", dropping sizzle cards in parking lots and wearing silly buttons.
What are you going to say when they respond with, "Why would I do that when I can advertise to millions of people online?" I hope you have an answer.

Now take a look at the better alternative. Let's say that you took the time and made the effort to educate yourself and develop skills that are up-to-date. (You do want to be successful don't you?) Imagine what it would be like if you could tell a prospect:
That you can show them how to generate endless free leads for both custormers and distributors. (No, I'm not talking about "free classifieds")
That you can show them how to generate income online immediately so that their advertising never comes out of their own pocket. And...
Because of the knowledge and skills they'll acquire by working with you, they will attract other sharp people and have prospects chasing them instead of the other way around.
NOW what kind of response do you think you'll get from an internet savvy prospect? See the difference?

So ask yourself this question, "What will you do to move your business into the future?" Will you learn the skills necessary to lead your team into the internet age or will you keep doing the same old tired antics passed down through the ages?
Yes the future is tomorrow, but tomorrow's success depends upon what you do today.
Technology and the internet can be the most powerful tools at a Network Marketers disposal. Take the time to learn how to put them to work for you. Trust me, your competition will.
And finally, keep in mind the future of MLM is brighter than ever. With big names in the financial arenas like Trump, Buffet, and Kiyosaki raving about the strength and legitimacy of Network Marketing, things are just going to get better and better. Educate yourself today to make sure you’re in business, tomorrow.
